At the heart of every strong community is the family unit—and at Islamic Services Foundation (ISF), supporting Muslim families is not just part of our mission; it is our foundation.
Since its inception, ISF has worked tirelessly to serve the spiritual, educational, and social needs of Muslim families across the DFW area. Through a variety of programs, events, and services, we aim to create a nurturing environment where families can grow in their deen, strengthen their connections, and thrive in all aspects of life.
Here’s a look at some of the key ways ISF continues to support local Muslim families:
1. Quality Islamic Education for All Ages
ISF’s commitment to education starts early and lasts a lifetime. Our schools and weekend programs provide families with access to strong Islamic and academic instruction:
- Brighter Horizons Academy (BHA): As one of the largest full-time Islamic schools in the region, BHA provides top-tier education rooted in Islamic values, offering Pre-K through 12th grade instruction. With certified teachers, Islamic studies courses, Qur’an memorization, and character development, BHA helps students excel both academically and spiritually.
- Weekend School Programs: For families who attend public school during the week, our Saturday and Sunday programs offer essential Islamic education, including Qur’an reading, tajweed, Islamic history, and Arabic language classes for children and teens.
- Adult Education & Parenting Workshops: ISF also offers seminars, parenting classes, and marriage enrichment programs to help adults grow in their knowledge and raise children with Islamic character in a modern world.
2. Spiritual Nourishment and Community Engagement
A spiritually connected family is a strong family. ISF ensures that families have access to meaningful religious programs and services:
- Jumu’ah and Taraweeh Prayers: Our facilities offer welcoming and organized spaces for weekly and seasonal congregational prayers, complete with family-friendly accommodations.
- Family Halaqahs and Monthly Lectures: These sessions are designed to bring parents and children together in shared learning, with topics that address modern challenges from an Islamic perspective.
- Ramadan Programs: From community iftars to youth qiyams and zakat distribution, ISF turns the blessed month into a family-centered experience full of growth and reflection.
3. Youth Development and Leadership
Understanding the unique challenges that Muslim youth face today, ISF invests in programs that empower young people with confidence, identity, and leadership skills:
- Youth Group Events: Whether it’s sports nights, sister circles, brothers’ halaqahs, or community service activities, our youth programs are designed to create safe, faith-based spaces for teens to connect and grow.
- Leadership Training: Through mentorship and volunteer opportunities, youth are encouraged to take initiative, develop public speaking skills, and serve as role models within their peer groups.
“ISF helped my daughter come out of her shell,” says Sister Fatima, a community member. “She’s more confident now, grounded in her faith, and she’s made friends who support her Islamic values.”
4. Financial and Social Support Services
Recognizing that not every family faces the same circumstances, ISF provides a range of support services to assist those in need:
- Zakat and Sadaqah Distribution: With the help of generous donors, ISF distributes financial aid to families facing hardship—whether due to job loss, medical emergencies, or other struggles.
- Counseling Referrals: Through partnerships with Muslim mental health professionals, ISF helps families access faith-sensitive counseling and support services.
- Food Drives and Back-to-School Support: Our seasonal programs ensure families have access to food essentials and school supplies, especially during critical times like Ramadan and the beginning of the school year.
5. Creating a Welcoming Space for All
From new converts to immigrant families navigating life in the U.S., ISF makes a conscious effort to be inclusive, accessible, and welcoming:
- New Muslim Support: With follow-up classes, mentorship, and community integration efforts, ISF helps new Muslims feel at home in the ummah.
- Multilingual Outreach: Programs and events are designed to accommodate the diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds of our members.
“When we moved to Texas, we didn’t know anyone,” recalls Brother Muhammad. “But ISF became our home. My kids found friends, and my wife and I felt connected. It’s more than a center—it’s our extended family.”
Looking Ahead
ISF’s mission to support local Muslim families continues to grow with your help. We are working on expanding childcare services, creating more mental health resources, and increasing our scholarship fund for low-income families.
Because when families thrive, our community thrives.
Thank you to all the volunteers, donors, teachers, and staff who make this work possible. May Allah reward you for helping ISF be a place where every Muslim family can grow in faith, love, and purpose.
