Brighter Horizons Academy

Brighter Horizons Academy (BHA) is a non-profit, tax-exempt organization established and registered in the State of Texas since 1989.

BHA is the largest Islamic school in Texas and the Southern United States and one of the largest in the United States. Its goal is to serve the increasingly diverse Muslim community of Dallas and the neighboring cities. This past year, we celebrated our 20th anniversary of Islamic and academic education in the DFW community.

Since 2006, BHA humbly holds the title of being the only full-time Islamic academy in Texas fully accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) for Pre-K through Grade 12.

Among BHA’s many accomplishments are its three high school graduation programs: Distinguished, Accelerated and Advanced. Also, in the eleventh and twelfth grades, students have the opportunity to attend the Dallas County Community College Program, where they can earn college credit hours as high school students.

On average, students earn between 32 – 64 college credit hours by the time they graduate from high school. Nine students have earned their Associates Degree along with their high school diploma in the 2009-2010 school year, with another group slated to gain their Associate’s degrees in 2011.

Aside from a solid education which includes Qur’an, Islamic Studies and Arabic, students enjoy after school extra-curricular activities, educational field trips, clubs and sports.

BHA’s high school journalism department has been recognized at the local, state and national level, earning ribbons, medals and other recognitions for their writing, photography, website, graphics and cartoons.

BHA’s goal is to prepare our students for a successful future by providing a solid academic program balanced with activities to help stimulate a child’s professional growth as well as spiritual growth.
